One Day in Bilbao, Spain

Accommodations

I stayed at the Poshtel in Bilbao which was a taxi ride away from the bus station. It was very nice and clean but nearly empty and no one was talking to other people, so I didn’t meet anyone.

Transport

I arrived by bus from San Sebastian and departed by train to Madrid. The train station was much more central than the bus station. However, the mountain views from the bus were amazing.

Food

The Bilbao Market has some great Tapas which I tried but bring a friend so you can try different ones because some of the portions were big.

Attractions

  1. Plaza Moyua is the main square in Bilbao.
  2. The bridges in Bilbao are works of art themselves so definitely take a walk down the river and see the different ones.
  3. Near Poshtel there was some good shopping that I went to.
  4. The Guggenheim Museum is really cool, but it is closed on Monday, and I didn’t arrive before closing on Sunday so I couldn’t go inside. The installations outside are still cool though so I would be interested in going in.
  5. Mount Artxanda overlooks Bilbao, and you can take the Teleferico up to it. There’s a restaurant up there but not much to do.

What I Would Do Differently

I only had one day in Bilbao, so I did what I could, but one thing to note is that some businesses in Bilbao closed on Monday instead of Sunday.
