I want to see more of Czechia so I choose to head to Olomouc because it’s on the way to Poland. When I arrive, I immediately notice that trams are limited on Sunday and everything is closed on Sunday.
I took the wrong tram so I have to drag my Away Carry On through the town square and uphill to my hostel. This is giving me flash backs to Banska Stiavnica, but when I get to my hostel I’m immediately relieved.
Long Story Short is a really chill hostel. There’s a bar with food and drinks, and also a fancier restaurant. The property is absolutely beautiful and it seems more deserving to host a yoga retreat than backpackers.
Even though it’s mostly empty, I somehow end up in a room with an old man who snores worse than anyone I’ve heard in my life.
I’m tired from traveling so I end up at U Reka – Gyros u Varny for kebab, which was not very good. I get some ice cream and then head to bed.
From my research I had read that this was a lively college town, but clearly college is not in session and the pandemic has shut most things down.

I go to Restaurace and Pizzerie U Kristyina because it looks like I can do some work there. There’s decent pizza and it’s cheap too.
Near the hostel there’s a brewery named Chomout which I want to try. This adventure was kind of a flop because I asked for a wrap but got a boring salad. I also didn’t like their most popular beer. I was really confused because they have an up-to-date daily menu online that did not match the menu at the brewery. It’s also possible they have an actual restaurant inside the park but there was a circus going on and I was very confused, so I didn’t go in. The park WiFi also didn’t work so I just went back to Long Story Short to work.

There’s a creperie here named Café La Fee, which I have to try. The crepes are decent and they also have a good iced latte. I made the mistake of sitting in the front room, which did not have great WiFi, so definitely sit in the main area.
I stop by Holy Trinity Column, Town Hall, the Astronomical Clock, the Fountains (Jupiter, Neptune, Mercury, Triton, Hercules, and Caesar), and the Plague Column before heading to dinner at Café New One. This restaurant was really good, but I ended up spending a lot of money because I was starving and ordered some extra sides.
