Relaxing in Rio Hostel and Costeño Beach Hostel (Colombia)

Saturday, July 23, 2022

Today I just relaxed in the hammocks at Rio Hostel and then got my laundry back. After some time to relax, I felt a lot better, and I ended up going to a party at Los Hermanos, which is one of the hostels near Costeño.

Today I continued relaxing, and went tubing with some people from the hostel, because that’s my entire purpose for coming to this hostel besides just checking out the vibes. I got a tiny bit sunburned and felt drained so I went to bed early again.

Rio Hostel is nice. It has delicious food, with lots of options. The dorm I’m in is cool, my only complaint being that it’s a bit dark even during the day. The bathrooms are good, and the WiFi is limited to a small area but it’s good. They also have good DJ sets. I’m officially a beach girl though, because even though this hostel is only about two miles from Costeño Beach and it’s on a river, I already miss the beach.

Today I’m back at Costeño so I’m taking advantage of the beach hammocks, and that’s pretty much it.

Sunset from the Highway

Tuesday, July 26, 2022

Today I continued relaxing, but I did end up watching the sunset from a nice spot on the side of the road. That’s pretty much it.

Today I continued relaxing, but there was a party in the hostel (Costeño has DJs Wednesdays and Fridays so those are the party nights at the hostel, other days there are parties at other hostels nearby). I met a bunch of people (including some people from San Diego!) so we played some drinking games at the picnic tables, and then danced for a while before calling it a night. I really liked the DJ this night so I had a good time.

Today was a fun day at the hostel and I’m sad to leave tomorrow. There’s a surf competition going on which is fun to watch, and apparently Thursdays are jam sessions at Costeño. I wish I knew this in advance because I would have made an effort to go to the jam sessions instead of the DJ sets because this is much more my style.

It was actually such a great time because one of the musicians was the guy I met at Bohemia Beach the first time I came here. The vibes were so great at the jam session that even the staff agreed and said this was one of the best jam sessions in a while. It really made me realize how much I love live music and I wish I could play it myself, but even more so I wished I had my dance shoes because I could’ve joined in with them.
